from The Local,
The NHL season will begin with two matches between the Pittsburgh Penguins and the Ottawa Senators at Stockholm’s Globe Arena, according Eurosport’s Swedish website.
The matches will be played next autumn, the reports say. In addition to the Globe matches, the Ottawa team will mean Swedish team Frölunda at Gothenburg’s Scandinavium.
Globe Arena manager Maj-Britt Gustafsson Wallin did not deny the reports when contacted by Eurosport.

What I have always heard Moocat, is the Wings had no interest in opening up in Europe.

Ottawa has a Swedish Captain, so it’s not completely silly to have them going. Ottawa and Pittsburgh are both fairly offensive teams, and should put on a pretty good match for the Swedish fans. And Crosby is Crosby.

I think Ken Holland said earlier in the season when someone asked him about the trip to England for Anaheim and LA that the Wings had a schedule that involved quite enough long flights as it currently stands.
Can’t remember if it was an interview on video or in print.

What, the Red Wings say no?
Honestly shouldn’t the NHL’s Sweden leg really star the Red Wings and Canucks?
