Report- Radulov Staying In KHL

via Peter Adler at The Cult Of Hockey,

Alexander Radulov, despite approaches from Nashville and other NHL clubs, has decided to stay at Ufa of the Kontinental Hockey League.

Here’s his quote (verbatim translation) from the Sport-Express: “I’m on a two-year contract, and even though I got some offers from the NHL, Ufa helped me last year, and I wouldn’t want to betray them”.

YES! Of course, he was under a valid contract with Nashville last year, and still left them for Ufa.

WOW.  Can one get any more hypocritical?

It’s not hypocrisy, it’s a translation error. Here’s what he really said:

I’m on a two-year contract; from now on every two years I sign it or else. I got some offers from the NHL. Some “friends” of Ufa’s owner said they would help me into cement skates if I took one of the offers, thus I wouldn’t want to betray them.

Interesting that it mentions offers - plural - from the NHL. First i’ve heard of Radulov talking to other NHL teams.

I would have to think that if other NHL teams did talk to Radulov, that would be tampering. His is still under contract with Nashville, suspension or not.

Nah, i’m sure it was discussions had through Poile and the Preds. My assumption (dangerous i know) is that they basically explored the trade option.

He essentially has given himself a no-trade clause, so Poile would have to talk to Rads and say “hey, if i trade you to the Caps, will you come back so i can ask them for more in exchange for you, instead of just the rights to your contract?”

So full of lying, hypocritical shit.  IF he ever makes it back to the NHL (hopefully, the Wings will NOT sign the stupid f*ck), he better have two huge Russian enforcers on the ice all the time.

I don’t know about smart - but he seems fairly immature and a bit flightly.  Like whatever the male equivalent of the stereotypical ditzy cheerleader is.
