from AllHockey.ru (rough translation),
As it became known to web portal AllHockey. Ru from authentic sources, the Russian forward Alexander Radulov having the operating contract with “Nashville”, has agreed on the solid offer from the champion of Russia - “Salavat Yulaev” - and the following season will spend in club from Ufa.
On January, 9th, 2006 Radulov has signed the contract for 3 years with “Nashville”, and before its expiration there is a half a year. The given transition in “Salavat Yulaev” can become serious blow on NHL positions from outside new Russian league.
Take it however you wish…
added 6:10pm, from Jeff Z. Klein of Slap Shot at the NYT,
News organizations across North America are playing today’s IIHF announcement that the NHL and KHL have agreed to honor each other’s player contracts as if it’s some kind of peace accord, but it sure doesn’t seem that way.
All the two leagues agreed to in Zurich today (Thursday) was to continue the de facto arrangement they made several weeks ago — an arrangement given teeth by IIHF president and International Olympic Committee member Rene Fasel when he said last month that any federation that violated an existing contract would be barred from the Olympics.
continued and Jeff is bang-on…

Maybe they didn’t get the memo Percy or maybe it isn’t true.
We have read false reports before, but these days, who knows?

This sort of makes CSKA Moscow’s claims concerning Nikita Filatov rather silly. You can have it one way or the other, comrade. Either your fancy new league believes in a hands-off approach or it doesn’t. Make up your minds.

It sounds like the article indicates that he’ll (supposedly) join this team after the expiration of his Predators contract, which runs through the end of the 2008-9 season. Considering a successful campaign could land him $4 million+ per year on his 2nd contract, I don’t put too much stock in this report.
Who is this Russian reporter, (AL)exei (Strachan)ov?

one thing’s for certain, the NHL’s public relations department is probably run by former editors of the Soviet Union’s Pravda.

This doesn’t surprise me one bit. Salavat Yulaev had big pockets last year thanks to the Bashkir government, and when you’re dealing with a big-market Russian team, well, they’re like NHL owners. They’ll do whatever the heck they want, legalities be damned.

what was this, like three hours after Bettman reached an agreement with Medvedev? Radulov is one of the league’s top young prospects, and a serious loss of talent for the league now that he’s gone; that being said, can the Rangers PLEASE get Cherepanov out of Russia to play with Zherdev and Gomez.
