Gomez - 7.357 Drury - 7.05 Lundqvist - 6.875 Redden - 6.5 Roszival - 5. That’s $32.782 million, or almost 60% of this year’s cap, for 2 forwards, 2 d-men, and a goalie. That math doesn’t seem to work out so hot, in my opinion.

As a Sens fan, I say good riddance. Way overpaid. He’ll probably have easier access to his hobby in NY though, while buddies in that hobby McGrattan and Emery probably won’t find it as easy.

Add in Christian Backman and Fedor Tyutin and their cap hit is just shy of $38M. That leaves them about $18.7M with which to pay the other 16 players. Yikes.

The Rangers plan is spend for elite talent, and fill in the rest of the holes with capable youngsters. However, at 6.5 this seems like a really bad idea, unless Redden returns to top form.

This pretty much leaves Jagr on the outside looking in, no?

jumping to conclusions never gets people anywhere. Why don’t we wait a year or two and then talk about how bad this signing is

overpaid for damaged goods. Mark Streit would have been the better choice. next.
