from Sportsnet,
According to a Montreal report, Pierre Lacroix has upped the ante in his pursuit of Patrick Roy to rejoin the Avalanche. Ruefrontenac.com - a website run by locked-out journalists from Le Journal de Montreal - reported Sunday that Avs president Lacroix has offered Roy the jobs of coach and general manager, and that Roy wants to hire Sylvain Lefebvre and Guy Boucher as his assistant coaches.

I’m not sure why Colorado would offer this guy a job like this, knowing he has no prior experience! Sure he was a hell of a goaltender, but he tried the coaching thing in the QMJHL and was terrible, and infact had his own son put the beat down on another goalie!!
But what does Colrado have to lose! Patrick will bring intensity to the lockeroom, but he will also be in charge of where the team stays, eats, and the other good stuff that comes with a GM job. Being a GM you have to be a peoples person, that does not fit Patricks profile!

Think this is a legit report, or just rumour-mongering?
Coach I could buy, as Roy does have coaching experience, but I don’t think he’s had anything resembling GM experience, and that is a lot of work to take on for someone without any experience in the position.

Please accept Patrick. In fact, pretty please with a cherry on top.

I gotta say, I’m feeling conflicted on this one.
I mean, obviously, I read this and my immediate response is “please, God, please, make this happen.”
On the other hand, this is the kind of fiasco that easily could lead to the (second) death of NHL hockey in Denver. Which would mean no more Wings games at the Ass Can. Which would suck. Watching the boys own the Avs- and watching the Avsmonkeys crying in their Coors, of course- is good, good fun. And I don’t get back to Detroit, well, ever. Cognitive dissonance, man.
That’s what you get for second-guessing your gut, I spose.
Please, God, please- make this happen.

Sure, get a hot-head to lead the whole organization, that’ll work!! Not. Roy and his pals would very well lead the Avs to not mere partial insignificance, but total. It’d be fun to watch it all disintegrate though, that I’ll admit.

This Roy story is getting as old as the Favre one.
