Yeah, A pro like Modano won’t get tired of Avery’s antics.

You gotta be ready to take his bad with the good, and he does bring good.

I guess he’s not too pricey for Dallas.

This guy boggles my mind. He’s into fashion and all that goes with that scene, but what does Dallas have to offer in that area? Nice cowboy hats and boots I guess. You would figure LA or even Toronto as offering more off-ice opportunities for him. Four million per year is a lot, more than Stingy Sather thought he was worth.

Good for Sean to cash in on a year of weak free agents. He stuck to his guns and is now getting paid. I just wonder about his health and conditioning. Last year he missed a ton of games with a forearm/hand issue and then had his spleen removed.

As a Ranger fan, good luck with the guy ... he’ll be missed as a Broadway Blueshirt.

It’s really not an overpayment considering the market.  In the past three seasons, with less ice-time and lesser line-mates than Ryan Malone, here are their compared stats:

Sean Avery: 216-47-72-119-585 (.55 pts/gm)
Ryan Malone:218-65-61-126-237 (.58 pts/gm)

and don’t forget the winning element he added to the Rangers

Avery’s antics overshadow how he plays, but he’s not a bad player.  Quick, hard-working, can score a bit - if it wasn’t for all the extraneous stuff, he’d get a lot more praise as well as a lot less attention.

He’ll either get along very well with Brendan Morrow or they will be at each other’s throats within nanoseconds.
