Report: Tocchet to the Lightning

From Jim Gintonio at the Arizona Republic,

Coyotes assistant Rick Tocchet has decided not to return to the team, an NHL source has confirmed.

Tocchet is expected to join the staff of new Tampa Bay Lightning head coach Barry Melrose, whose appointment is expected to be announced at a news conference on Tuesday.

Assuming this report is true, is he leaving because he’d rather work for Melrose than for Gretzky, or because the Coyotes would rather he work for anybody than for Gretzky???

Perhaps he prefers hot, muggy weather with lots of bugs to dry heat with cool nights…

Or maybe the Florida retirees are hotter than the Arizona retirees.
