via Tarik El-Bashir of Capitals Insider,
According to three reports out of Russia this morning, Sergei Fedorov’s NHL career is officially over. The 39-year-old has ended more than a month of speculation about his future and reportedly signed a two-year deal with Metallurg Magnitogorsk of the KHL....
The deal is reportedly for two years at $3.8 million per season.
Magnitogorsk has also announced the signing on their website.

Too bad Sergei couldn’t hang around for 500.
Ah well, dust of #91, because it’s gonna be raised in an arena near you, Detroit. (But it might not be the Joe)

Feds leaving the NHL is really not good. The man is a first round HOF’er with three rings. Unfortunately Caps mgmt doesn’t really have a grasp of reality and reality it takes a “team” that has more than one line to make it in the playoffs. Feds still has gas and still has more to give than most teams 2nd line center. It just
sucks that Ovie couldn’t actually be a man as well as a team player and take some advice for once. Maybe, just maybe they would have made it past the second round.
B/c now folks its the end of a really good era and unfortunately alot of GM’s out there really aren’t all that sharp. Case and point Washington.

When asked about the report, Fedorov mentioned that even though Leonis hand-delivered an offer to Fedorov of an equal amount, Fedorov wanted to be ‘the man’ somewhere else rather than having to play in Ovechkin’s shadow.
Yes, I’m still bitter Fedorov for ditching Detroit. Sue me.
