From Adrian Dater at the Denver Post’s All Things Avs:
Just heard from a source that the Avs have signed Craig Anderson to a 2-year deal. I’ll confirm soon whether that’s fact or not.
More here later.
Update 1:43pm ET: Dater confirms deal is done.
Update 2:22pm ET: Press release from the Avalanche --
DENVER – The Colorado Avalanche Hockey Club announced today that it has signed free agent goaltender Craig Anderson to a two-year contract through the 2010-11 season.
“In Craig we feel we have addressed a very important need within our organization,” said Avalanche General Manager Greg Sherman. “His overall performance last year was very impressive and he is entering the prime years of his career.”

I thought the Aves might be “low budget” but this is ridiculous. I guess Marty Biron is not in their price range....or maybe they are relying on Andrew Raycroft bounce back year #5

The Monster’s agent said today he still needs more time, not ready to make a decision.

This is a smart signing. Anderson was drowning under Vokoun.

It might work. If it doesn’t, it cost less than two mil a year. I don’t think it’s a bad signing. All the reports I’ve read say Anderson is ready for a No. 1 role.

So much for waiting on that Swedish fellow.
Did someone tell Anderson that we don’t have any ice girls for him to oogle?
