from the Buffalo News,
The Sabres remain ninth in the East, four points behind Philadelphia after the Flyers lost to Toronto for the second straight night. The Leafs, Washington and Florida all have crept within one point of the Sabres after winning their games Wednesday.
On top of losing a chance to gain ground, the Sabres lost another defenseman. Nathan Paetsch joined Dmitri Kalinin and Jaroslav Spacek on the out-for- weeks list when he suffered a concussion after taking a fierce elbow to the chin from Pittsburgh’s Georges Laraque with 17:26 left in the second period. Paetsch was out cold on the ice before getting up and wobbling off.
“It was a cheap shot,” said Sabres coach Lindy Ruff. “ . . . I think that’s an easy suspension.”
