Sakic Won’t Return This Weekend

from Adrian Dater of All Things Avs, .

..But, listen, I’m probably going to choke up a little at the Joe Sakic retirement press conference - one that I expect to happen at some point soon.

I predicted all through last summer that Sakic would play this year. And I’m predicting now that Sakic will retire after this, his 20th season. And, as I’ve said before, I do hope I’m wrong. But I don’t think I will be.

Anyway, the news tonight was that Captain, our Captain, can’t play this weekend. We had all sorts of fun scenarios for this weekend.

At this point, I think Dater would prefer Joe retire rather than come back just so he can have another “I told ya so” to his credit.  He mentions how he’s SURE Sakic won’t be back every chance he gets.  This after he floated the whole “Forsberg to retire TONIGHT!” crap a few months back.

I agree Mike.  Leave the drama out of this, let Joe decide!

Adrian - Why do you hate Joe Sakic and want to drive him into retirement?

Sakic will make a decision when he’s darn good and ready, and if it doesn’t fit Dater’s schedule or storyline - tough.  I hate it when writers not only make predictions, but keep harping on them and harping on them until you want to throttle the man with his own computer power cord to make him stop.
