Savard Will Get Name on the Stanley Cup

Boston Bruins forward Marc Savard will get his name on the Stanley Cup after all.
General manager Peter Chiarelli said Monday at the team’s charity golf tournament that Savard’s name will be inscribed on the trophy with his teammates.

Why wouldn’t it be? I thought that injured players qualified.

hockey1919, I think the player has to have played 40 regular season games or a game in the finals to automatically qualify…something like that.

Today, players appearing in 41 regular-season games or one Stanley Cup Final game for the championship team have their names engraved on the Cup. The NHL makes exceptions for players who do not meet the standard because of injury or other extenuating circumstances.
