from Helene Elliott of the LA Times,
Luca Sbisa was surprised when the Flyers traded him to the Ducks in June as part of the blockbuster Chris Pronger deal.
“It took me a couple of days to let it settle in,” the 19-year-old defenseman said. “I thought I had a great time in Philly. But after a couple of days I got more and more excited and I saw the opportunity I would have here.”
His last doubts faded when he arrived in Southern California without a place to stay and was taken in by Bobby Ryan. “He just got his house the day before I moved into his house, so there was no furniture. We had to go buy a blow-up mattress,” Sbisa said, laughing. “But that’s how good of a guy he was.”
Sbisa, born in Italy and raised in Switzerland, later found a place to live in Newport Beach.
