From Len Ziehm at the Chicago Sun-Times:
The third day of the Blackhawks’ prospects camp ended early Wednesday when defenseman Simon Danis-Papin hit the ice face-first with a scary neck injury.
Danis-Papin, at 6-7 the tallest player in the Hawks’ organization, collided with a teammate early in the third period of a scrimmage. He was largely motionless while trainer Mike Gapski and his staff administered medical treatment for about 20 minutes.
Fortunately, good news today. Blackhawks team physician Dr. Michael Terry issued this statement this morning:
“Simon was involved in an inadvertent, high-energy collision yesterday and as a normal precautionary measure we brought him in to further examine the severity of his injury. All tests performed were negative and confirmed he suffered a strain and contusion to his neck. He was released from the hospital and will miss the remainder of the prospect camp but we expect him to be fully recovered soon.”

On Monday, about 30% of the kids at the Wings’ prospect camp were wearing visors. When we hear “prospect camp,” we don’t tend to think about the fact that the club and the kids alike (especially if they’re NCAA prospects) are making a tremendous financial as well as talent/energy/time/work investment in bringing your organization’s best and brightest together to attempt to make a lasting impression.
