Scouting Columbus

from the Columbus Dispatch,

Scouts from five clubs, representing both conferences, agreed to give their opinions regarding the Blue Jackets’ strengths and weaknesses, what has gone well and what has gone wrong, what the future might hold.
To encourage frankness and clarity, the scouts were promised anonymity.
• Scout 2: “I like this club, and I like where Hitch (coach Ken Hitchcock) is taking them. They’re sort of like the Arizona Cardinals. You keep thinking next year is going to be their year, but it never quite happens. Sooner or later, these guys are going to blossom.
“I’ll take Fritsche on my team any day. Of all the guys on this club, he’s the one who shows up every night. And he’s figured out the kind of goals he’s going to score in this league. He’s only going to get better, too. Smarter.

You ever get the feeling you’re being watched?

This seems a bit too coincidental.  Not that I’m complaining.  Seeing real scouts do their thing is very cool.

Many of us fans who have watched this team since day one have noticed the same things, but we’re not professional hockey experts, so I figured maybe it was just our frustration.  I guess not.  My question is, how come MacLean doesn’t see it?  Is his ego just so big he refuses to admit he’s been wrong in how he’s built this team?
