Searching For The Wings

Searching For The Wings

When I read that title I was pretty sure the article would be about the way the Wings are playing such un-Wing-like hockey this year. What used to be tape-to-tape passes now looks more like tape-to-thin-air passes. And don’t get me started on their defenseless defense. On top of all that, what the hell happened to the tough-love coach from the past three seasons. This kinder, gentler, more optimistic guy masquerading as Mike Babcock is freakin’ me out.

Having said all of that, these guys are still #3 in the league in points. If they ever decide to quit playing at 75% and ramp it up to, oh, I don’t know, something ridiculous like 90%, the rest of the league is in big trouble. But for that to happen, we need Mike The Mean back again. This Mike The Milquetoast guy ain’t gonna get it done.
