From Ira Kaufman at The Tampa Tribune:
The Tampa Bay Lightning are slashing season-ticket prices by an average of 10 percent for next season, with almost 4,000 seats available at the St. Pete Times Forum for only $239.
[...]
Almost 1,300 upper-level seats have been reclassified to be included in the $239 season-ticket package that averages out to $5.69, plus tax, per game. Nearly 20 percent of the arena’s seats will feature that $239 designation and half-season packages in the same area will cost $149.

How do they plan on making money? Hell, I can’t figure out how they can even afford to pay the electricity bill with those ticket deals.
One thing is sure: it’s a fantastic deal for pro sports entertainment in Tampa. If they can’t fill the building at those prices, I sure wouldn’t be optimistic about the team’s future there.

Just think, if TB sells every one of those discounted season tickets they will have covered about 10% of Lecavalier’s salary next year.

There was an article last week talking to the owner (the movie guy, not the hockey player) where he mentioned that their building contract is absolutely insane. I think they get all of the gate, parking, and don’t even pay normal utility fees to the city. It was very bizarre.

At those prices I’d consider buying season tix...and I live in Boston

No matter how cheap the tickets are… you’re still forced to watch the Lightning.

How exactly do they plan to make any money selling tickets to mediocre hockey for $6. If they can’t sell them all for that cheap, it must mean they really suck, or the economy sucks worse…
