via Kevin Allen’s Twitter,
Just told that Teemu Selanne has called Anaheim GM Bob Murray to say that he is going to play next season.

ANAHEIM, Calif. – The Anaheim Ducks announced today that Teemu Selanne has elected to return to play for the club next season (2009-10). Selanne, already under contract for the 2009-10 campaign, informed Executive Vice President/General Manager Bob Murray of his decision this morning.
“This is obviously great news for the Ducks,” said Murray. “Teemu is still playing at a high level, brings passion and energy to the locker room and is a loyal member of this franchise. It’s fantastic he’s chosen to continue his playing career.”
“I’m very happy to play another season in Anaheim,” said Selanne. “The way we played toward the end of last season, I’m excited about our chances. We definitely have what it takes to win.”

I wonder if ducks fans are tired of this crap yet. Is this the 5th straight year that everyone has to hold their breath the find out if Scott N and Selanne have decided to make another 5+ million and play a game for another year?

Selanne is already under contract for another year at $2.625M.
In general, Anaheim has done a lot of sensible things from the trade deadline and onwards to retool and restock.

I’m not sold on the Ducks next year. Their monstrous defensive corps was the biggest reason for their post season success. Now they’ve lost Pronger, are letting Beauchemin go and there’s no guaranty that Niedermayer will come back as a Duck. There’s still a lot of time left in the off season to prove me wrong, but moving Pronger looks to be the first sign that they’re stocking up on talent for the future, not trying to make a run at the cup next season.

Yeah, for real! I mean, one of them is a UFA and he told them a week before free agent season started and the other let them know that he will still play for them!
DICKS!

With Selanne back and the additions of Lupul and Sbisa, the Ducks will be very good next year. If they can get a second-line center, look out.
