Senators Hands Are Tied Right Now

With trade speculation and denials surrounding the Ottawa Senators continuing to run fast and furious, the only given in the situation is that general manager Bryan Murray currently has his hands tied financially in his efforts to make further changes.
While the club’s current payroll is approximately $47 million U.S.—$9.5 million to $10 million shy of the NHL’s salary cap of $56.7 million—Murray doesn’t have any room to manoeuvre. At least until there’s some movement in the status of restricted free agents Antoine Vermette and defenceman Andrej Meszaros.
Regarding all the rumors involving Ottawa, yes we are aware that a well known hockey forum and a hockey entertainment site had posted both Jason Williams was a Senator and Chris Neal had been traded.
Numerous emails from KK readers asked why we did not mention them and our response was they were not true. You may not realize it, but we do have a system of checks and balances at KK, we want to keep our readers informed of what has happened in the hockey world but will not post trades or signings that DID NOT happen.
