from Bruce Garrioch of the Ottawa Sun,
The Senators are keeping their options open up front.
While the club is still holding talks with unrestricted free-agent centre Mike Comrie, league sources say GM Bryan Murray has also held serious discussions with Penguins winger Petr Sykora — also a UFA — and he’s at the top of the Senators’ radar screen if they can trade Dany Heatley before training camp.
The Senators would like a big forward back, but indications are Murray isn’t sure that will happen.

Kukla’s Korner is always a free service for readers, but it costs some money to maintain. If you’re ever in a position to donate a few dollars to help out, we’d be very appreciative.

Something is telling me that in the end the Sens will trade Heatley for less then they were originally asking for… so they can sign one or both of Comrie and Sykora. If/when they move #15 they are going to have to get someone back that can at least score a little, and paired with one of these signings maybe they won’t be too bad off… but the Sens should feel the hurt from losing Heaters goals no matter who they get to “replace” him.
