Senators Owner Wants His ‘Heatley Bonus’ Money Back

from Bruce Garrioch of the Ottawa Sun via Slam,

It’s payback time for Eugene Melnyk.

Sun Media has learned the Senators owner was so furious with being forced to shell out a $4-million bonus to Dany Heatley, who refused to accept a trade to the Edmonton Oilers on July 1, he has filed a grievance asking for his money back…

It’s believed Melnyk not only claims the decision by Heatley to kill the deal cost him $4 million, it also hurt the club’s ability to sell season tickets because of the uncertainty in the Senators camp.

Uh no, the teams inability to sell season tickets is mostly based on the fact that the rink is in a field down by the river… uh well, in a field in the middle of nowhere anyway.  No one can walk to the game, no one can make a last minute decision to do to a game and if the team is not going to be great I think people do not want to go through the hassell of getting to Kanata, especially on weeknights.  Plus the atmosphere in the rink is usually dead except when the Leafs or Habs are in town.  It’s just got a whole lotta blah written all over it.

The way the fans and media go on, Heatley is the worst human ever in the history of the world so I am guessing they would be happy he is gone and eat up the tickets.

Lets not forget the economy is way down too, its reality.
