The Senators are expected to announce Friday morning GM Bryan Murray has been signed to a contract extension.
The club has called a 9:45 a.m. news conference at Scotiabank Place with president Cyril Leeder and Murray, at which they’re expected to say Murray has agreed to a new two-year deal to stay with the club. His current contract expires on July 1.
With the Senators coming off a 6-5 win over the Washington Capitals, the Senators are ranked No. 3 in the Eastern Conference. During their current streak of 13 wins in the past 14 games, the Senators have made up 13 points on the Buffalo Sabres to move into first place in the Northeast Division. The club started the streak while dealing with several key injuries, shown it has depth in the organization.
update 10:05am, Bruce Garrioch reports it is a one year extension.
