from Tom Gulitti of Fire & Ice,
Devils left wing Brendan Shanahan cleared waivers at noon today without being claimed by another team.
There is no word from the Devils yet on whether they will assign him to Lowell of the AHL or what the next step will be.
If the Devils do assign Shanahan to Lowell, his $1 million salary will come of their cap.
more on the Devils and make sure to check out the new-look Fire & Ice.

If they send him down would they call him up on re entry waivers to see if a team would take a shot at him?
I don’t see why Tampa wouldn’t give him a go. Put him with Vinny and Tanugay and you got a pretty decent line, even if hes slow and past his prime hes still wayyy better then Downie in that role.
