SAN JOSE, Calif.—San Jose Sharks Executive Vice President and General Manager Doug Wilson announced Friday that the team has acquired center Patrick White and defenseman Daniel Rahimi from the Vancouver Canucks in exchange for defensemen Christian Ehrhoff and Brad Lukowich.
“This trade speaks to the confidence we have in the young players coming up through our system who have earned the right to compete for a spot on this team,” said Wilson. “It also creates some flexibility in our team payroll for potential future transactions as the season progresses and adds two more talented players to our reserve list that can help this organization in the future.”
added 2:37pm, “We are pleased to be adding Christian and Brad to our defensive group,” said Mike Gillis. “Defence has been an area we wanted to add skill and depth to and this trade has strengthened our group considerably. We would like to thank both Daniel and Patrick for their commitment and efforts with our organization and we wish them both well in their careers.”

Relax there “Fire Doug Wilson NOW.” This trade reeks as a precursor to something else. Let the story finish.

Precursor to a Heatley deal, Maybe?
Make my misery end, Maybe?

I am reading into Wilson’s quote as a trade may happen in-season…
“It also creates some flexibility in our team payroll for potential future transactions as the season progresses…”

For sure a money trade, either for now (Heatley) or as Paul mentioned in season (as needs demand).
Interesting move for the Canucks on the other hand, they get 1 good and 1 mediocre D… I think Ehrhoff will be in their lineup when the season starts. Wonder if this will lead to VAN moving one of their D now?

Well Ehrhoff is obviously what we wanted, and Luckowich is a salary dump by the Sharks. Well, actually both are salary dumps, but Ehrhoff has Actual value. The Canucks lose White who certainly didn’t project to be anywhere what a first round pick should be( wtf was Nonis thinking), and Rahimi which i think has potential. I wonder how close to the cap we are, now, Ehrhoff is 3.1 and LUckowich is 1.1 plus we just signed scnieder too, this will be interesting.

And this effect Luongo’s negotiators how?
or did I miss that he has been locked up long term?

its clear that there is a trade to be made. The canucks are over the cap right now, I wonder who is to go, maybe bieksa for prospects

Typical Doug Wilson type of trade, with no thought about the future or no foresight. What happens when Blake gets hurt, like you know he will and what happens when Huskins turns out to worse the Lukowich then what?
The only moves the Sharks will make now until the deadline is signing Torrey Mitchell and Brad Staubitz and trading away first round picks for potential free agents who don’t want to play in SJ. The Sharks went from being a #1 team in the conference to a #6 seed this over season, and when Blake gets hurt, like I guarantee he will this team might even miss the playoffs.

they are clearing up cap space. IM thinking that they are going to try and make a run at Kessel or Heatley

on it’s face this trade is a reaming, even neglecting lukowich. if rahimi ever becomes the the player erhoff is now i’ll be shocked and amazed, and white is quite possibly the biggest first round bust in canucks history already, and not even a likely career ahl player. i can’t imagine that the sharks couldn’t have got something better than this deal, but as a canuck fan i frankly don’t care.

Doug Wilson should be fired right now for making this deal. Are you kidding Erhroff for those two scurbs alone is stupid, but when you consider that he could have traded Erhroff to Columbus (a team not as talented as Vancouver) and gotten Jason Chimera a proven NHL Player, just proves how dumb Wilson really is. What a Dumb F**** Wilson is he should be fired immediately
