Sharks Force Game 6

from Art Spander at Inside Bay Area,

Was this merely a new chapter of an old story? Are the Sharks destined to be frustrating’s champions? Are they always going to lose in the playoffs to a team that finished below them?

Hockey is different, insisted Wilson the coach.

“It’s not football or basketball,” he said, trying to explain his responsibilities. “In hockey it isn’t red left, XYZ, call that play. A hockey coach puts people on the ice who are supposed to know what to do. You teach them to play defense and what you expect is creativity.”

The Sharks may have been creative. What they weren’t until midway in the second period is successful. Dallas was too fast, too aggressive. The Stars did what the Sharks could not do, control the puck, swarm the goalkeeper.

WTF? This has only happened twice in Sharks history. With the win over Calgary, they are 4-2 lifetime against lower seeds.

Maybe Spander thinks the San Jose finished above Detroit last year, just because a lot of mediots picked the Sharks to win that series?
