Sharks Get Shelley From Columbus

via the Columbus Blue Jackets,

The Columbus Blue Jackets have acquired a sixth round pick in the 2009 National Hockey League Entry Draft from the San Jose Sharks in exchange for left wing Jody Shelley, club General Manager Scott Howson announced tonight.

added 10:07pm, via the San Jose Sharks,

“Jody Shelley is an aggressive, physical player who adds a distinct element of toughness to our team,” said (Doug) Wilson.  “With the loss of players like Ryane Clowe and Brad Norton due to injury, this is something we have been trying to address and we like the capabilities that Jody brings to our mix of players.  He has tremendous character, has always been a team player and has the ability to make the opposition uncomfortable on the ice.”

Jody’s fared pretty poorly in his scraps this year.

That said, I’m not sure how many other enforcers were available.

This will certainly spice up ducks/sharks game, as Shelley has a bit of a history with Parros.

Think they got him to kick some energy into Patrick Marleau?  Unbelievable how poor he has been this year.
