Sharks Make Michalek Signing Official

from the San Jose Sharks,

The Sharks locked up another core player for the long haul Friday when they inked Milan Michalek to a six-year deal worth in excess of $24 million. The length of the contract is the longest in franchise history, matching the term previously provided to Owen Nolan.
Michalek surrendered a few years of unrestricted free agency, but that was not a concern for the speedy forward who can play anywhere up front.
“It was a few years (of unrestricted free agency), but I’m really happy in San Jose,” said Michalek. “The organization is great. I’m glad they wanted me for so long because I wanted that too.”

On Friday, the San Jose Sharks announced that the team has signed forward Milan Michalek to a six-year contract extension worth $26 million, according to sources.
Considering the dollar figures thrown around this summer, that constitutes almost a bargain by today’s standards, given Michalek’s upside as a player.

That’s awesome!  I was hoping this was true!  Now all we need is Marleau signed and we’re good to go

I am not sure if they will keep Marleau.  He is a golden asset but the sharks have 7 RFA’s looking for raises next season.  It would take a lot of juggling.
