Sharks Notes

from David Pollack of Working the Corners,

• The Sharks have awhile before they need to get under the cap, but Wilson hinted Wednesday another transaction may be in the works. He didn’t say it would be a cap-related move, but I wouldn’t be surprised if that’s what it turns out to be.

And the likelihood a trade grew out of Wilson’s golfing vacation in Scotland earlier this month with Detroit’s Ken Holland, Chicago’s Dale Tallon and St. Louis’s Doug Armstrong?

No clues at this point, Wilson said, but we could have the answer in about a week.

• The Sharks new coach had his first meet-and-greet with the Sharks fan base on Wednesday at HP Pavilion. About 50 people showed up for autographs and photos inside the team store during the 90 minute session.

I’m thinking that if the event were held in Detroit, even in an off-season that didn’t follow a Stanley Cup victory, it would have been more of a mob scene rather than the trickle that showed up downtown.

• Hedican is also skating at Sharks Ice this month, but both he and the Sharks are making it clear that a training camp invitation has not been extended. For now at least.

He is right about Detroit.
Thousands would show up to meet Mike Babcock.

Not only is he the Wings’ coach, but we are learning that he is one of those “larger than life” characters.

In almost any way you define the word, “character” very aptly describes Babs.
