Sharks Release Friesen

via the San Jose Sharks,

San Jose Sharks Executive Vice President and General Manager Doug Wilson announced today that tryout player Jeff Friesen has been released from the Sharks 2008-09 training camp.

“Jeff had a very good camp and he should be proud of his effort and his commitment,” said Wilson.  “However, at this time, we are moving forward with our 23-man roster as announced yesterday.  We wish Jeff nothing but the best in the future and he will always have a special place within the San Jose Sharks family.”

The Sharks held on to Friesen about two season too long the first time around. They should have kept Sturm and dumped Marleau as well.
