First shift for both players, they drop their gloves and go at it.
Hopefully the end of the story.

I think everything will be okay unless the game becomes one-sided. Then things could get ugly.

See? I knew Matt Cooke was pretty smart for a dumb guy.
I just hope he doesn’t score a goal. Related: I hope they screened fans for bricks before letting them in.

I hope you are correct Linda. I want to see hockey. We have two good teams here tonight. Would be a better match if both Gino and Savard were on the ice.
That said, I do believe in kharma. If I do, then I hope that justice is served, just doesn’t have to be in this game. Cooke is a repeat offender and to go after a good guy like Savard just ain’t right. He’ll get his. There is always something bigger and better out there. He’ll make a mistake soon that will change his life.
On a side note, lesser of two evils? Steigerwald or Edwards? Jebus, I actually wish Joe Beninati was working this game. This is crap. Can’t believe the voice of the NHL selected either of these RichardHeads.

I could go for Cooke scoring tonight. That would start a riot.

But that shouldn’t be the end of the story. So Thornton gets tossed and Cooke has a sore head and knuckles. Big deal. Cooke gets to play the rest of the night and tomorrow too. What about Savard? How long before he’s 100%. Will he ever be 100%?
This is a joke. Cooke deserved one of two things:
1. A Prober-esque 1985 beating to the point Cooke might question ever come to the rink again.
2. 20-game suspension and a threat of 40 game suspension the next time he does it again.
I think part of my anger is due to my prejudiced towards agitators. What are they good for? They get under people’s skins by utilizing tactics beyond the rulebooks. Awesome.
No other sport has this.
Can you imagine a 1st basemen tripping guys rounding first., or elbowing them while they stand on the base? And then when the runner gets pissed and tosses a punch, everyone can say “That’s good old-time baseball right there. That 1st basemen is just doing his job. Every team would like one of those”.
Agitators are rats with no honor. I hope there comes a day when guys like Cooke, Avery, Ott, Downie and the like are gone from the game for good.
I like my hockey hard and tough, but clean. Not full of rats that skuttle along after they’ve speared or blindsided someone.

I could go for Christine Solowkoski 6687 losing her internet connection…

Well it’s now 3-0 so the riot may still happen…..unless Bylsma just decides to sit Cooke the rest of the game

That was a surprisingly uneventful win in Boston, fortunately. No business for the undertakers this time.

Good win for the Penguins tonight. Fleury gets the shutout, Cooke survives, and most importantly, the Penguins get two points.

I actually wish Joe Beninati was working this game.
No doubt that Paul S. from Pittsburgh is a homer, but Joe Beninati? To suggest that he isn’t is to suggest that Eddie O doesn’t mention Chicago in some way at least every five minutes. Joe B. is just as bad trying to force the idea that no one plays the game harder, faster, with more skill, better vision, and more intensity than OV.
My point. Many teams have homer commentators. Most nights, center ice offers you the choice between one teams homer versus the other.
By the way…
The reason the pens have Paul as the play-by-play is because Mike Lange was frustrating penguin fans with his equally enthusiastic goal calls for the opposite team. He was the exact opposite of a homer and at the time many fans were getting tired of hearing it. Of course now, everyone wants him back.

Wanker to Badasss….
I hear your point. But, in my humble opinion, the two WORST (PuckStopsHere are you listening?) are Edwards (le coq Sportif) and Steigerforest (C U Next Tuesday) are the epitome of crap broadcasting. As a hockey fan who dislikes FatTed, I think Beninati is actually quite a fair game-caller…

@Unicorn Force - Are you a Caps fan?
Posted by Uncle Ted on 03/18/10 at 11:10 PM ET
Uncle Ted:
Am I a Caps fan? Not really. That said, I’ve lived here for years. And for years, the Caps were built on the idea that you don’t lose. Great defensive teams came and went, but they never had a focus on winning. Jim Schoenfeld was great, but was never equipped with the necessary tools to succeed. Leonsis arrived and thought he could buy greatness with Jagr. To his credit, he learned from his mistakes. He shed is philosphy and started doing things the right way: trade and draft. He now has assembled a great product and, more importantly, a great culture. When I go to Caps games, it is ALL Caps fans. That’s new in my book. But back to Leonsis, he’s done well. I respect him - outside of his self-promoting blog that says “look at me… look at how great we are doing.” Shut the funk up. The Stanley Cup goes through Pittsburgh and until you beat them, you ain’t didley… That’s my thought. I love seeing hockey prosper for the first time in DC. About time. Leonsis deserves credit, but he also needs to understand the code. He misses it as Mr. Tech Revolutionary in hockey. Again, he’s done great for the sport. But, he needs to shut up. That will only make him a better owner.

Hmmm…um…mentions something about the Capitals actually having a decent hockey legacy and taking issue with the “hockey proper” comment…but let’s it go. We’ve all had our “Jim Carey” periods of goaltending (not the good year he had either).
