Should A Coach Talk About Players From Other Teams?

from Adrian Dater of All Things Avs,

Probably should have asked this a day or two ago, but got around to asking Joe Sacco this morning his reaction to Washington Capitals coach Bruce Boudreau throwing one of his players, David Koci, verbally under bus last Tuesday night. Boudreau all but called for Koci to be jailed after his hit on Mike Green, and basically said he has no talent and shouldn’t even be in the league.

Here’s what Sacco said at the Xcel Energy Center: “Bruce should just worry about his own players. That’s what I try to do – worry about my own guys. David goes out there and plays hard, and David’s never been suspended. For the role he plays, he’s a clean player and I don’t think he went in there intending to hurt anybody.”

Yes.

Really, what does that say if Boudreau just says “Yeah, well, whatever… it happens” and doesn’t stand up for his own guy?

Of COURSE a coach should call out someone form another team if he feels his team or one of his players has been wronged.

Not that I’d expect someone like Dater to understand a concept like loyalty team unity…

I totally agree with you Primis.

Sacco said Boudreau should worry about his own players…well that’s what he’s doing.

I agree with you both, but instead of talking smack about Koci, he could still have stood up for Green and even said the hit was a dirty one without saying that he thought Koci was a terrible and dirty player all the time…
