from Spector,
SPORT-EXPRESS.RU: reports former NY Rangers forward Brendan Shanahan has apparently received an offer from an unnamed KHL team, believed to be SKA St. Petersburg, the same club that signed former New Jersey Devils forward Sergei Brylin earlier this week. They have a spot for a foreign player and the team is coached by Barry Smith who used to work for the Detroit Red Wings when Shanahan played there.
SPECTOR’S NOTE: Little news has been heard about Shanahan since the UFA market opened nearly two weeks ago, and it remains to be seen if he’d consider playing in Russia if he fails to land an NHL contract.

Kukla’s Korner is always a free service for readers, but it costs some money to maintain. If you’re ever in a position to donate a few dollars to help out, we’d be very appreciative.

I don’t know, Shanahan likes to have his family with him and I can’t see him moving them to Russia for a year. It would be interesting though, if both the Rangers’ big leaders went to Russia this year.
