from On the Islanders Beat blog at Newsday,
According to an Islanders spokesman, Ryan Smyth did not suffer a significant injury in the final seconds of the Islanders’ 2-1 loss to the Rangers, and he is expected to play in their next game against Washington on Saturday night at Nassau Coliseum.
Smyth’s injury received considerable attention at the end of the game telecast, and team officials at first said they had no information. Coach Ted Nolan also said he hadn’t spoken to Smyth. But word came shortly before midnight that Smyth is “fine” and will not miss any time.
