The seats on top of the “green monster” are going to have an amazing view, I think.

Poor things. In Chicago’s Soldier Field that is normal! If they can’t hack it, give the seats to someone who’s tough enough to really be a hockey fan.

I don’t understand why they (the NHL) thinks baseball parks are a good idea.
One would need a pair of high powered binoculars in most of the seats just to see there is a game. Not saying they would know what’s going on, but they would see very tiny men moving around on a white thing.

The sad part is those great seats up on the Green Monster won’t be going to hockey fans. They’ll probably be filled with all celebraties and friends of Jacobs ,Henry, Werner & Lucchino. Wanting to be seen of course, not watching the game. I’m sure there’ll be the obligitory celebrity that is a real Bruins fan (Denis Leary comes to mind) ,but most will be there just to be seen.

All the better reason to hope they freeze their appendages off.
Consider it meteorological karma.

30+ years without a S.C. Championship for these 2 teams is the real Karma. And the hockey gods will not look down upon these 2 franchies until they change thier archaic thinking as to how to approach the game.

Because the NHL doesn’t want to lose a truly unique aspect of the WC: intimacy with the game. If you put it in a college football stadium (such as the Cold War game between Michigan and Michigan State), the stadium is just too overwhelming for a game whose playing dimensions are already too small. I know the first WC was played in the Buffalo Bills’ stadium but I think the NHL marketing guys thought it was just too large and too far away from the action on the ice.

Well, I can understand getting away from a stadium that seats 80,000. But, I remember comments from last season’s Winter Classic. Many fans were happy to be there, but they said they used the “jumbo tron”, or whatever it was called, to actually watch the game. The folks in the outfield sections couldn’t see a freakin’ thing.
Anyone have any ideas what would be a better choice? If I remember correctly, the Ralph Wilson wasn’t too bad for the 2008 Classic. I think the fans were pretty close then.

Kukla’s Korner is always a free service for readers, but it costs some money to maintain. If you’re ever in a position to donate a few dollars to help out, we’d be very appreciative.

You can’t quite tell how much opportunity there’ll be for people to charge for their balconies or rooftop space. I’m sure there’s a joke waiting to happen about how the boards are currently constructed out of crowd control fencing.
