From Helene St. James at Detroit Free Press,
As the Red Wings prepared to play tonight’s Game 4 of their first-round series with the Flames, establishing success on special teams was at the forefront.
While the power-play struggles can hardly be surprising giving its ineffectiveness throughout the regular season, the penalty killing’s vulnerability has been far more noticeable. The Wings have allowed four power-play goals in three games, and their 75% success rate ranks 14th among the 16 NHL playoff teams.
Plus: St. James questions if Bertuzzi could boost the Wings’ 2nd line.

I love the fact that St. James asked Babcock if he would ever sit Samuelson or Lang (in a round-about manor).
“We thought about all this,” Babcock said. “We obviously in our wisdom, we thought we did the right thing. That’s what you guys get paid to do, is second-guess. It’s easy to do it the next day. But if I had the chance to do what I did yesterday over again, would I do it? Yes.”
Also, it appears that Lang opted out of yesterday’s practice. What a devotion he has to this game, team and himself! It’s nice to see when in an offensive and defensive rut, Lame takes some time for himself. Such dedication!
I had a chance to speak with Mr. Lame. Instead of going to practice, he watched some instructional video titled “Blades of Glory” (oddly enough it was taught by Ricky Bobby of all people) and stopped by some ruckus leading up to the Saddledome and doesn’t remember much afterwards, but his nipples hurt.
