Some Rangers Should Join Avery In Hartford

from Larry Brooks of the NY Post,
Sean Avery is on his way to Hart ford, where, The Post has learned, he will be assigned today by the Stars for an indeterminate period before going on re-entry waivers that all but assuredly will lead back to Broadway.
After last night’s display in the 3-0 loss in New Jersey that extended the losing streak to five games (0-4-1) in which they have been outscored 21-5, not only can’t Avery’s return come soon enough, but a handful of Rangers on the current roster should feel fortunate not to be making the reverse commute to Hartford, themselves.

I’m still laughing at how we couldn’t give Shanny 800k, So we let him go to the devils. Real smooth move.

After last night’s miserable showing by Redden, I have to agree. The question I have is what happens if the Rangers do send him down? Would they have to put him on waivers? Would anyone even pick him up given his absolutely lousy play of late?

If Redden was sent to the minors - he’s automatically put on waivers because has a one way contract. At 6.35 million per year, I’d be shocked to see a team pick him up. You could put him on re-entry waivers and he could be claimed at half salary. Not sure I’d want to do that if I’m Glen Sather.. At this point it may be the only option, he’s not working in NY. Personally, unless he turns it around he’ll have gone from a #1, #2 defenseman making premium money to a 4th, 5th making that kind of money.
I think we’re going to see a short stay for Wade Redden in NY at this rate. His play has been horrific.

This team looks HORRIBLE. As a Rangers fan, I was personally embarrassed.
