Some Teams Experiencing Same Problems

from David Shoalts of the Globe and Mail,
As always, the NHL is doing its best to put a shiny face on its corporate doings, with much talk of skyrocketing franchise values and deep-pocketed investors lining up to buy franchises. A well-connected person in the financial game, who keeps a close eye on franchise values and doings, says such talk is correct only when it applies to the high-end teams—the Toronto Maple Leafs, Philadelphia Flyers and Detroit Red Wings, for example.
However, elsewhere in the NHL, things are not a lot different from what they were before the lockout last season. The salary cap, to the surprise of few, has not proved to be the panacea for all the league’s financial woes.
