Spezza & Kovalev Have To Start Producing

Spezza played through a nagging injury earlier this season and refused to speculate on whether that affected his production.
Kovalev, however, made some cryptic comments Wednesday about being hurt when asked why he isn’t shooting more.
“Well, there’s certain injuries here that have been bothering me, but the last two or three games I’ve been better and getting in positions to start shooting more so, you know, sometimes it’s hard,” he said.
“I mean, I don’t want to blame it on because I got hurt. You know, it’s not the reason. If I’m playing, I’ve got to play the way I can, but sometimes certain things (are) limiting you.”
Kovalev said the fact he hasn’t scored a goal in 15 games isn’t getting to him.
“It doesn’t bother me. You know, what bothers me the most is that we can’t put up the points (in the standings),” he said. “We know we’re good enough. We’re a strong team. We know we can do better and there’s still a lot of games to play, and we should start now to put up some points.”
