Stamkos Not Bothered By Melrose Comments

from Lightning Strikes,

In a nutshell, Melrose said he believes Stamkos is not ready for the NHL.

“That’s his opinion,” Stamkos said. “My job is to help this team win and do everything possible. You can’t let stuff like that bother you. It’s his opinion, he said what he said. If anything, this team can use it as motivation.”

“We talked,” Tocchet said. “He’s a great kid. It’s a process, and he’s going to be a great player for this franchise. I think sometimes he puts too much pressure on himself. ... He told me he laughed about it, which was nice to hear.”

“You just don’t pay attention to it,” Stamkos said. “You keep working hard. This team is working hard. ... That’s the only thing we’re focused on, not comments from anyone.”

It’s amazing to me the amount of crap Melrose has talked.  He’s looking about as classy as a whore in church right now.

Looks to me like Melrose was more right than wrong. Stamkos is awful. Vrbata is back in Europe. The team was 4-5 with Melrose….1-10 since he left…...Rick “the Crook” Tocchet as your coach is pretty sad. That’s even worse than signing Barry “ESPN” Melrose. Then they re-hire Mike Sullivan as an assistant from the prior regime….? Hiring Melrose was about the only thing they did that you could argue made at least some sense….What Melrose says about his former employers is all good as far as I’m concerned. It’s alot more interesting than “no comment”....

How can you say Stamkos is awful?

Because he isn’t going to score 100+ points in his rookie year like Crosby/Ovechkin?

The standard has been set so high for these kids that if they aren’t immediately the best player on the team, they are failures.

And he may be a failure, he might never crack the 30 point mark, but we can’t assume that just because he hasn’t had an incredible start that he’s a failure.
