NEW YORK (November 9, 2009)—Calgary Flames right wing Jarome Iginla, San Jose Sharks goaltender Evgeni Nabokov and Philadelphia Flyers defenseman Chris Pronger have been named the NHL ‘Three Stars’ for the week ending Nov. 8.

FIRST STAR—JAROME IGINLA, RW, CALGARY FLAMES

Iginla tallied five points in three games, including a League-leading four goals, as the Flames (10-4-1) posted three consecutive victories. Iginla tallied two goals, including the overtime winner, and added an assist in a 3-2 win over the Dallas Stars Nov. 4, scored once in a 2-1 overtime win over the St. Louis Blues Nov. 5 and notched the game-winning goal in a 3-1 victory over the New York Rangers Nov. 7. Iginla ranks second on the Flames in scoring with 14 points (eight goals, six assists) in 15 games. His two game-winning goals last week increased his career total to 67, sixth among active players behind Anaheim’s Teemu Selanne (94), Dallas’ Mike Modano (90), Boston’s Mark Recchi (83), Pittsburgh’s Bill Guerin (73) and St. Louis’ Keith Tkachuk (71).

SECOND STAR—EVGENI NABOKOV, G, SAN JOSE SHARKS

Nabokov posted a 2-0-1 record with a 0.95 goals-against average and .967 save percentage as the Sharks (12-4-2) climbed to first place in the NHL overall standings. Nabokov stopped 26 shots and all three shootout attempts in a 3-2 victory over the Columbus Blue Jackets Nov. 4, turned aside 35 shots in a 2-1 shootout loss to the Detroit Red Wings Nov. 5 and made 27 saves in posting his 49th career shutout, a 5-0 victory over the Pittsburgh Penguins Nov. 7. Nabokov, who was named the NHL Third Star last week, improved to 11-3-2 with a 2.14 goals-against average, .925 save percentage and two shutouts in 17 appearances. He shares the League lead in victories with Craig Anderson of the Colorado Avalanche.

THIRD STAR—CHRIS PRONGER, D, PHILADELPHIA FLYERS

Pronger led all defensemen in scoring with five points (one goal, four assists) and posted a +5 rating as the Flyers (9-4-1) posted three consecutive victories. Pronger recorded two assists and a +2 rating in a 6-2 win over the Tampa Bay Lightning Nov. 2, tallied one goal, one assist and was +3 in a 5-2 win over the Buffalo Sabres Nov. 6 and finished the week by notching one assist in a 2-1 shootout victory over the St. Louis Blues Nov. 7. Pronger logged a personal season high of 31:56 in the win over St. Louis, increasing his League-leading average ice time figure for the season to 27:37. He ranks third among defensemen in scoring with 14 points (three goals, 11 assists) and ranks fifth among all players in plus-minus (+11).
