The NHL’s brightest stars will be shining in Toronto on Thursday, June 14, as hockey’s elite descend upon The Elgin and Winter Garden Theatre for the 2007 NHL Awards Show, airing on CBC at 8 p.m. ET.
From a performance by Canada’s hottest band Finger Eleven, whose single “Paralyzer” topped the charts for 16 consecutive weeks, to “Mr. Hockey” Gordie Howe, to Trish Stratus, the most decorated Diva in WWE history and host of The Second City’s Next Comedy Legend on CBC—some of the biggest names from the hockey and entertainment worlds will come together to recognize the best from the 2006-07 NHL Season.
For the 13th straight year, Ron MacLean from CBC’S HOCKEY NIGHT IN CANADA will host the hockey-star-studded event, which is taking place at the historic Elgin Theatre for the first time. Special guest presenters—including 2007 Team Canada captain Shane Doan, 1993 Frank J. Selke Trophy winner Doug Gilmour, two-time Jack Adams Award recipient Pat Quinn, William Fichtner from FOX’s Prison Break and Blades of Glory, Frank Selke Jr., and George Stroumboulopoulos, host of CBC’s The Hour—will unveil 10 award winners throughout the evening. Featured musical act Finger Eleven will also take centre stage during the show to keep the theatre rockin’, along with house band, The Trews—one of Canada’s best live rock groups.
Rounding out the 2007 NHL Awards Show’s exciting lineup are the ultimate stars of the night—the NHL players. Hart Memorial Trophy finalists Sidney Crosby, Martin Brodeur and Roberto Luongo, along with Pearson Trophy finalist Vincent Lecavalier and James Norris Trophy finalists Nicklas Lidstrom, Scott Niedermayer and Chris Pronger will be among the hockey royalty in attendance.
Tyler Stewart, drummer from Canada’s ever-popular Barenaked Ladies will join CBC’s Scott Oake, Kelly Hrudey and Cassie Campbell with coverage of the red carpet outside of The Elgin Theatre on Yonge Street, interviewing players, presenters and guests as they make their way into the prestigious awards celebration.
The 10 awards to be distributed during the two-hour broadcast include the Calder Memorial Trophy (Outstanding Rookie), Frank J. Selke Trophy (Outstanding Defensive Forward), Hart Memorial Trophy (Most Valuable Player to His Team), Jack Adams Award (Outstanding Coach), James Norris Memorial Trophy (Outstanding Defenseman), Lady Byng Memorial Trophy (Sportsmanship and Gentlemanly Conduct), Lester B. Pearson Award (Most Outstanding Player as voted by fellow members of the NHLPA) and Vezina Trophy (Outstanding Goaltender).
All voting for the 2007 NHL Awards was conducted at the conclusion of the 2006-07 regular season. The Professional Hockey Writers’ Association votes for five trophies (Hart, Norris, Selke, Calder and Lady Byng), the NHL Broadcasters’ Association selects the Jack Adams Award recipient, NHL General Managers vote on the Vezina Trophy and the NHLPA votes for the Lester B. Pearson Award.

When are the 1st & 2nd team all-stars announced? Is this also done at the awards show?
