Start Delivering Suspensions

from Larry Brooks of the NY Post,

With all the recent focus on hits to the head following last Saturday’s violent collision at the Coliseum in which Doug Weight concussed Brandon Sutter with what is classified as a legal hit in the NHL, it is beyond mind-boggling that notorious repeat offender Chris Pronger was allowed to escape a suspension, let alone a penalty, for the shoulder blow he delivered to Pavel Datsyuk’s head on Wednesday night.

The puck was some 40 feet away on the boards when Datsyuk came across the line and appeared to first encounter defenseman Francois Beauchemin. Pronger came second against the off-balance Detroit center and got the shoulder high into the head.

continued and if you have not seen the hit, watch it here

Larry Brooks seems to be suggesting that the NHL be consistent and not show favouritism.

These traits are not documented in the NHL Management Guide or are not displayed by Campbell.

As Kelly has suggested, maybe it’s about time for a change.

No, what really needs to happen is that someone needs to elbow him away from the play (blindside) and end his season/career.  Until that happens, he’s never going to stop, because he’s just a piece of garbage.

Well, I would love to see his season/career ended on a hit like those he delivers, but until that happens, he needs to face severe suspensions, the kind pretty much everyone can agree he deserves (those playoff one-game suspensions were nothing short of a travesty) and once he gets a couple 5 or 10 game+ suspensions, maybe his coaches/GMs will attempt to get him under control, realizing they’re paying big money for this big piece of trash to sit in the press box for multiple games at a time.

And I made the statement that that lumbering Sasquatch knew exactly WTMFH he was doing.  He had no reason to be in that play as Beauchemin, who is a fine enough defenseman himself, already had position on him.
