I don’t care for either of these teams so before the dallas fans get in a tizzy, hear me out: Who is this moron announcer calling that a “clean hit” ?  He led with his forearm straight for the guys head.  He was so top heavy leading into that arm first that his skates came two feet off the ice.  And that crack about Dumont being “physically inconvenienced by the hit?  The guy was laying motionless on the ice with a trainer over him when the announcer made that comment.  Totally unprofessional and completely ignorant.  With non-hockey-educated comments like that you’d think Gary Bettman himself was calling the play by play.

I think the color guy is Darryl Reaugh, who has always been one of my least favorite color commentators.  I have always thought the comments he makes are completely moronic, and it;‘s nice to see someone else realize it.  For some reason the guys over at Puck Daddy have some fetish for him and wish he was on more national telecasts.  I will definitely be muting those games if that happens.

I think it was an unintentionally dirty hit. From the camera view in the corner it looked to me like Robidas was surprised when Dumont cut into the center of the ice, and his arm got up as a defensive thing rather than an attempt to clobber. Combined with that gap off the boards, turned into an unfortunate incident.

Yep, it was not a clean hit. He was clearly leaping into the hit and leading with a forearm. Just b/c Dumont had his head down doesn’t absolve Robidas of a bad hit.
