All he wanted to do is be a hockey player. And what a player he was!!!

The Captain has called it a career.
Center Steve Yzerman, a Red Wing since 1983 and their captain since 1986, announced Monday afternoon that he had retired from playing hockey.
“I feel very relieved and very comfortable,” Yzerman said at a news conference at Joe Louis Arena. “I want to let everyone know I’ve decided to retire, to hang up my skates.”

I knew I should have skipped work today. I am sad I missed the announcement. I tried to leave for lunch and get to the TV. Anyway, I seen Howe and Stevie play and I am more sad to see Steve retire. The Wings would not have won the Cups without him.
