I cried when mrs Illitch started crying.
Me too. I was a brave boy until then.
But Stevie has made me shed many tears of joy before. And for that I am blessed.
Thank you, Stevie. You are My Captain.

Congratulations from a Habs fan. You all were very fortunate to have such a class act leading the way for so long. Yzerman is one of those few players who have been universally respected in the hockey world and deservedly so.

Compare their HHOF speeches. Yzerman should give Michael Jordan lessons on how to be a class act.

Me too, cried and had goose bumps at the same time.
There is only one Captain, and there will only be one Captain.
I have only one hero/icon, and he has set the standard so high, he has become the standard of true greatness and true character.
I feel genuinely privileged to have witnessed the entirety of his career, and the coinciding rise of the Wings. From Farber at CNNSI.com
You can distill everything from Yzerman’s 22 seasons in Detroit—692 goals, 1,063 assists, three Stanley Cups, immeasurable grit—and it comes down to that: The team was the Dead Things when he came in, and Detroit was Hockeytown when he went out.
I am grateful beyond words to The Captain.

I am grateful beyond words to The Captain.
Me too. A wonderful speech, a wonderful honor for a wonderful man. I miss him so much on the ice.
I cried on Saturday night watching him be introduced before the game and I cried last night. What an honor for a fantastic man.
