Still Talking About The Luongo Trade

from Steve Gorten of the Sun-Sentinel,
Do you see what goalie Roberto Luongo has been doing lately and feel cheated? You should. If it makes you angry to read those sentences, it’s because you hate being reminded of what can’t be forgotten — that the Panthers gave away Luongo to Vancouver in June 2006.
Regardless of whether you agree with the trade, they should have received more in return. What they now have instead of Luongo are defenseman Bryan Allen and AHL center Shawn Matthias, a prospect they got when they traded their key acquisition in the Luongo deal, Todd Bertuzzi, to Detroit.

No mention of money, salary cap, or upcoming free agency, team finances,
or any other considerations at the time the deal was made.
Nor any mention of the one-sided trade that brought Luongo to Florida in the first place. I wonder if this guy would trade Parrish and Kvasha for Allen, Ballard, Boynton, and Matthias?
Easy come, easy go.

What kind of a fantasy world is this guy living in.

I’m no fan of Mike Keenan, but when a GM is told to shrink the
payroll, keep it low, and given a deadline,...Well, he just does the
best he can. Blaming a soldier for the commanders decision is absurd.
