Taking Sides In The Versus/Directv Dispute

from Seth Rorabaugh of Empty Netters at the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette,

We don’t care if the chairman of DirecTV has kidnapped a busload of children of Comcast executives and is threatening to dunk them in a vat of sulfuric acid. We’ll always be on the side of DirecTV in this dispute.

...Could you ever imagine Comcast doing anything like that to make up for a shortcoming? All Comcast is interested in is taking your money and eating the souls of kittens.

Again, call Directv...complain (politely) that Versus isn’t on and you should be able to get the entire season of Center Ice for free.

Lets just hope that the NHL learns a lesson through all of this and goes with a company we all know will never be removed .... ESPN.

I have had to order a special extra package for the dish just to get versus in the first place.  I was already paying an extra fee to get versus.  Once the internet streams get better, i will stop dealing with all this crap and just get the center ice online package and watch it through the internet.

by the way, for anyone who wants to see their team play but can not because of versus/direct tv… check out STREAM LINK

Exactly.  Who in their right minds actually pays to watch sports programming anymore?  Not just the NHL, but every pro sport made it clear a long time ago that they will stick fans for every last possible dime they possibly can.  The cable/satellite companies are as bad or worse in this area.  So why not return the favor as fans and take every possible opportunity to get something for nothing?

The vid quality of the free streaming sites is at least as good as the first year NHL Center Ice online package was.

I just wish they would settle this thing.  I keep sending emails off to DirecTV every time I miss a game.  Sigh.

Not sure how Comcast or Versus is to blame in this, they want their programming to remain in the package as it has been on Directv in the past. Directv wants to move Versus, so less people will get it. Comcast supports hockey, owns a hockey team, pays real money for hockey on Versus (unlike ESPN) and treats the sport with respect, supports the NHL Network in the US, and also brings local WHL hockey on demand here in the NW. Directv does none of these things. While this writer may have a beef against Comcast as the Flyers owner, as a hockey fan, Comcast deserves our support.
