from Tim Wharnsby of the Globe and Mail,
According to razorgator.com, a worldwide ticket agency for sports and entertainment events, five Canadian teams have the highest average ticket price for their home openers this season, while the Ottawa Senators rank 10th among the 30 NHL clubs. Here are the average ticket prices, arranged from high-to-low
continued and Vancouver leads the way with an average of $308 per ticket…

There’s something screwy going on with those numbers.
Ottawa has nearly quadrupled their ticket prices? Detroit’s gone from the lowest ticket price in the league to 8th highest with a five fold increase? The Hurricanes have decreased prices by 63% and the Coyotoes by 68%??
The most expensive tickets are more than 9 times as expensive as the cheapest.

There are some oddities. I know that I have tickets to Ottawa’s opener, with a list price of $52, and after taxes they’re still around $60-65. But I’m happy to know that Melnyk is treating us the best among Canadian NHL teams.

The numbers are based on Razor Gator’s figures, and they are a secondary market seller. These are not the face value prices.

An average of $308 a ticket? That’s an outrage. If I were a Canucks fan, I would find that very hard to swallow.
