from Jim Kelley at Sportsnet,
At the moment Sidney Crosby’s name was being announced as the Lester B. Pearson award winner as the most valuable player as voted by members of the National Hockey League Players Association the CBC cameras zoomed in on the faces of Vincent Lecavalier of Tampa and Roberto Luongo of Vancouver.
Luongo had the look of a man disappointed but still with the hope of winning the Vezina as the league’s top goaltender. Lecavalier, meanwhile, had the look of a man who had just seen his first and last chance of winning the big one go by the boards.
Such is the impact of Sid the Kid on the NHL today.

You’d be thinking differently if he were calling another part of the state home!! lol
I think we may be seeing the beginning of a Gretzky like stranglehold on the awards ceremony!
And no, I am not by any stretch of the imagination suggesting that Sid will put up Gretz-like numbers!

The NHL ruined Crosby before he ever played a shift in the NHL. Make the kid earn something instead of shoving him down everyone’s throat.

Well, all I have to say is that Gary Bettman or whoever you are referring to didn’t put on his skates and jersey this past year! IMO, he earned the Hart and the Pearson was voted on by players, so its hard to say he was handed that award!

That article was full of factual errors:
-Vezina trophy to Lidstrom for best defenceman?
-Phil Kessel, a defenceman?
Posted by Chris on 06/15/07 at 01:14 PM ET
If Lidstrom got the Vezina, too, then he is even better than I thought. He really CAN do everything on the rink!
Are there often errors like that in Sportsnet articles? Typos, I can understand, but that is pretty obvious.

Too bad Sidney thanked ‘Marty and Vinny’ when he was up against Roberto and Vinny.
Classy job Crosby.

Another error: Datsyuk won the Lady Byng, not Selke.

Maybe a little too much time at the After-Glow party!

Maybe the kid made a simple mistake?
Geez, I can only imagine how you guys would deal with 10,000 people ripping on you if you made a typinf error.
