The Fans Of…

from Steve Lepore of Puck The Media,

Penguins, Pittsburgh.  Has that one guy friend who’s printed out way too many Pensblog photoshops and placed them on his desk.  Kind of wishes some drunken photos of Evgeni Malkin would surface so they could wear their “Drink Like a Champion” shirts to the igloo.  Wonders why everyone gives Gary Bettman a harsh rep, since he seems like such a doggone nice guy.

Red Wings, Detroit.  Likely lives in a different city now.  Thinks everone in the NHL is against a franchise with four Stanley Cups in 12 years.  Is totally okay with the number of foreigners on the team.  Speaking of Foreigner, how bout that music at The Joe?  Doesn’t own an American car.

more and yes, every NHL team is listed…

LOL!  I own a ‘99 Chevy Lumina with over 112,000 miles on the odometer.  Every single GM auto we’ve owned has had over 125,000 miles on their V6s.  Thanks for asking.

Very nice.  Love the one about the Calgary Flames; sounds exactly like my relatives who live there.  Ottawa is also bang on.

Journey, not Foreigner.

Yes, other than the Foreigner gaffe, as a Wings fan I’m not going to argue with any of that.

Hmm. I don’t like Foreigner or Journey, but that’s besides the point. And I do drive an American car. And I have lived in Michigan my entire life (moving soon, though).

But I get his point. Kinda funny in a “heh” sorta way.

Jeep Wrangler.  Before that?  A Jeep Wrangler.

Good stuff all around though.

Wings fans don’t own foreign cars (just take a look at the garage at the Joe sometime).  We own domestic cars that are now suddenly discontinued (Yay Pontiac!).  I’ve owned 1 old beat-up Chevy Cavalier, 3 Grand Ams (1 of them was wrecked), and now a G6.

And yes, we don’t mind the Euros.  That makes us so horrible.  It probably is because we live side-by-side with so many Mexicans and Arabs and don’t bat an eye.  Poor, horrible, enlightened us…

Here in Las Vegas, it’s kinda unnerving seeing Mazdas, VWs, and Hondas with Red Wings license plate holders and/or bumper stickers.  I even saw a Toyota 4Runner SUV with a huge Winged Wheel on its back window (granted it had California plates).

I agree with the Mexican and Arab comment as well.  I will always hold the Detroit Area Arabs and Detroiters in general with great respect for keeping their cool when 9/11/01 occurred.  Everyone in the national media kept looking for bad news out of Detroit and when nothing like a riot or uprising happened, I couldn’t have been more prouder of Detroiters.

I used to work with a refugee shelter and the stories coming from the Iraqis and disenchanted Muslims were devastating.  Some of their stories still haunt me to this day.

Dang, Chief, you’re gonna make me like you if you keep it up.

Jeep Cherokee.

Before that?
Jeep Cherokee.

The only cars that last longer than large american engines are Mercedes, and those things are just unnatural freaks of nature.

As for the article, I thought it was pretty funny.
And seriously, what’s so bad about Gary? Ass?

(that was sarcasm, don’t tear me a new one, and for the record, I don’t know a single person who likes Gary.)

I own a Ford Focus, and love it - have recommended it to many people looking for a decent, reliable, passenger car.

And you can’t judge where a car was made by the brand - my dad has a Suzuki something-or-other, which was built in a plant in Ohio.  smile

Heck, I own a GM, why wouldn’t you?

And I really don’t like Journey OR Foreigner..

...but I wish I was born and raised in South Detroit…

I don’t know any Pens fans who like Bettman, but the rest is pretty accurate, especially about THE Pensblog.

I have rarely seen a winged wheel only an American car…and I’ve lived in 30% of the US.  Granted that’s not detroit and never will be, but…you don’t really see nhl logos on anyone’s car unless it’s the red wings logo.  It’s sort of the same thing with those stupid magnetic ribbons people used to put on their car and american flags…always on a toyota or honda.  Granted, nowadays, more hondas and toyotas are likely made in the US with US parts than actual American auto mfgs but that’s just pissing in the wind.
